SCAM ALERT!
Recently there have been reports of individuals posing as water company employees approaching residents in their homes and advising them a water main has been broken and asking the person to come outside and turn on a front hose bib. The imposter then keeps the resident occupied while another person slips into the home and steals items that are sitting in the open. The resident is told they can use as much water as they want for the day and will not be charged for it, however, they cannot drink the water.
The Sheriff’s department has asked that if you encounter a person like this DO NOT leave your home, but close the door and call 911.
We would like to remind you that ALL East Pasadena Water Company field employees wear light blue uniform shirts and dark blue uniform pants (NOT JEANS). All employees’ shirts have our Company name and the employees name stitched on the front. Many employees wear a baseball-type cap with our Company name clearly printed on it as well.
All EPWC employees are required to carry a photo identification card with them at all times and our field personnel all drive white utility trucks with our Company name and logo clearly visible on the side.
There are individuals in our communities who pose as utility workers for a myriad of reasons from attempting to sell water softeners to more sinister motives. Please be sure the service person at your door is who he/she represents himself/herself to be.
We only test water pressure at your request and our field personnel do not need to enter your home. If a water sample is needed, an outside hose bib will work just as well as an inside faucet. If you have any question as to whether or not the person at your door represents East Pasadena Water Company, please call our office for verification.
